Exploring an Unique Steam Game Trial: Guiding a Piece of Feces on a Quest to Arrive at the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and gamers have encountered numerous entertaining creations from small studios. However, one catches the eye for its quirky concept. Titled Unko Technica, this classic-feel jumping adventure lets you play a protagonist that is truly a piece of poop trying to navigate to a restroom. For those curious, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."

The gameplay is easy to grasp: press a jump control. In 150 challenges, battle mini-bosses and unlock a store to purchase customizations for your fecal avatar.

Plan your actions precisely, since one mistake means beginning again. Jump on floating orbs to propel your character upward, cross fragile platforms, and activate buttons to open new areas. Gather currency to purchase more difficult levels in which the action intensifies.

Visually, the experience boasts neon environments and catchy background music. The simple graphics of moving geometric shapes could recall fans of beloved games like Earthbound.

While it's difficult to recall similar titles where you control a coiled turd, gaming often incorporated toilet humor. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, you can create throwables from character droppings. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use feces as soil enrichment. Naturally, fecal references shows up extensively in Obsidian's South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its silly premise, Unko Technica has already garnered notable recognition, such as winning at a major publisher's GYAAR Studio in 2023. A playable preview is available now on Steam, with the complete version set to debut on PC in the fall.
