Lando Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice
Lando Norris has outscored his teammate at all of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped team-mate and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the points lead from his teammate by one point after taking the win in Mexico City recently, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair throughout the hour before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, trailing with a 36-point deficit Norris, finished in 17th position as his team followed a different programme.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to crash, if briefly, when he rotated at corner four soon after starting.
Tsunoda lost control over the track edges before spinning across the run-off area, and was fortunate to escape with just a slight brush of the fence.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the very end of the practice, turning around through the fast downhill corner approaching the final bend on to the main straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in 19th place, trailing team-mate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's car in third, over half a second behind Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
